In Marrakech, “French centre” means two different things. The Institut français de Marrakech is the official institution: courses, a media library, and an exam centre for DELF, DALF and TCF. Private centres, including Millennia Centre de Formation in Gueliz, teach and prepare. They do not issue the diploma. The right choice depends on your goal, not on an advertising ranking.
The Moroccan trap: “we already speak French”
In Morocco, French is not a foreign language in the same way as German. Many candidates arrive with fluent speech, a mix of darija and French, and writing that is too weak for a report, a professional email or a DELF B2 production.
A centre that places you straight into “A1 beginner” to fill a group wastes your time. A useful centre in Marrakech starts with a level test, then targets the real gap: written grammar, oral argumentation, office French, or exam method.

It is not always either/or. A common path is: prepare in a private centre with hours that fit, register for the session at the Institut français. It is the same pattern as Goethe from Marrakech: prepare locally, sit the exam where it is organised.
Where to sit the DELF in Marrakech
The DELF (A1 to B2) and the DALF (C1 and C2) are diplomas of the French Ministry of Education, managed by France Éducation international. They are independent (you can aim for B2 without holding B1) and valid for life.
In Marrakech, the exam is held at the Institut français. Practical details published by the institute:

DELF “all public” fees shown by the Institut français de Marrakech start around MAD 600 depending on the level, with possible discounts for people enrolled on their courses. Check the fee for your session before paying: the grid changes.
Millennia does not collect exam fees and does not send a summons. The official summons comes from the Institut français.
How to judge a private centre
“Top 10 French centres in Marrakech” lists often mix schools, Instagram coaches and institutes. Ask six questions instead:
- What level do you place me in, and on what basis? A written + oral test, not a five-minute impression.
- Do you prepare a specific exam (DELF, DALF, TCF) or only conversation?
- Where does the exam actually take place? If the answer is vague, the centre confuses preparation with the diploma.
- What is the group size? Speaking is trained in a small group.
- Which slots exist this session? Morning, evening, weekend: ask for days, not the slogan.
- Is the address verifiable? Gueliz is not a marketing label. It is a neighbourhood, with a building and a number.
A serious language centre accepts that you sit the DELF elsewhere. A centre implying that it “gives” the DELF is misleading you.
What Millennia does — and does not do

Common mistakes
- Searching for an “Alliance Française Marrakech” and missing the Institut français, which is the exam centre.
- Paying for an A1 cycle when the real need is B2 writing.
- Registering late for the DELF session: places and dates belong to the Institut français, not to the preparation centre.
- Confusing TCF (a time-limited certificate) with DELF (a diploma for life). They are not the same document.
- Choosing a centre only because it is “in Gueliz” without checking the programme.

For an official diploma: calendar and registration at the Institut français de Marrakech. To improve speaking, writing or exam method on an employee timetable: a private centre that says clearly it prepares, it does not certify.
