At a glance
In Marrakech you learn Italian. You do not sit the official diploma in the city. CILS (University for Foreigners of Siena) is held at the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat, the only seat in Morocco, in June and December. Millennia Centre de Formation in Gueliz runs the classes and, on request, the prep. It is not an exam centre. Spanish is the opposite: the DELE is taken in Marrakech.
Why Italian here
This is not an Ausbildung track. Demand in Marrakech is local:
- Tourism: Italian guests (riad, restaurant, medina), front desk, bookings
- Study: universities in Italy, Erasmus files
- Romance language: a French speaker often reads faster than they speak
- Stack: Italian + French, or Italian + English, on the same campus
Local uses (tourism, studies, speaking): why learn Italian in Marrakech. A Venice feed is not a programme. The useful test: a real group, speaking time, and clarity on the exam if you want one.

The two can follow each other: train in Gueliz, register and sit the test in Rabat. The Rabat institute also runs its own courses; they are not required to register for CILS.
CELI (University for Foreigners of Perugia) is another recognised diploma. IIC Rabat clearly documents CILS. Do not assume a CELI session in Rabat without checking the current official page.
The CILS exam, from Marrakech
Published by the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat:
- Seat: only CILS affiliate in Morocco
- Period: June and December, at the institute
- Listed session: 3 December 2026; registration until 24 October 2026, 23:59 (Italian time)

Documents listed by the institute: original CIN (or residence permit), form issued on site, then payment in MAD at Crédit du Maroc after confirmation that the session is open, then deposit of the receipt. Amounts are not copied here: they are given at registration.
Millennia does not collect CILS fees and does not issue the diploma.
What Millennia does — and does not
Millennia Centre de Formation, Gueliz, near Bab Doukkala. On Italian, the published offer is:
- Italian courses: conversation, grammar, culture
- groups from A1 to B2+, placement test
- CILS / official-exam prep on request
- slots according to open sessions (morning, afternoon, evening, weekend)
This is not a CILS seat. The internal certificate attests the centre’s programme. It does not replace CILS.

Common mistakes
- Assuming an “Italian Marrakech” centre administers CILS on site.
- Mixing up a centre certificate with CILS (Siena) or CELI (Perugia).
- Registering late: the 40-day rule and dates are Rabat’s.
- Paying for a cycle with no test: closeness to French often overrates speaking.
- Booking travel to Rabat before the session is confirmed.
In short
Italian in Marrakech = classes and speaking in Gueliz. CILS diploma = Rabat, IIC calendar. The two are not exclusive.
