Neither TELC nor Goethe is an “easy” exam. Both target the same CEFR level. TELC is often felt to be more accessible orally: you mainly speak with the other candidate, on everyday tasks, after 20 minutes of preparation. Goethe is more modular (you can retake one skill) and more often named in job offers. From Marrakech, Goethe is taken in Casablanca or Rabat. The diploma the employer asks for beats the feeling of ease.
What “easier” does not mean
Both certifications are recognised in Germany for many Ausbildung, job and visa files — labels: Goethe vs TELC. Nobody has published an official difficulty ranking. Forums compare experiences, not a Goethe-Institut or telc scale.
The Moroccan trap is familiar: fluent speech (darija + French + a little German), writing too weak for B1. Someone who “already speaks” finds Goethe hard in writing, and TELC hard as soon as Sprachbausteine (grammar in context) appear. The exam is not unfair: the real level is.
Where it bites, paper by paper (B1)

TELC speaking, telc describes as an exchange between candidates. Many experience it as less of an “interrogation” than Goethe. That does not lighten B1 vocabulary or grammar.

The criterion that beats ease: what is written down
- The offer or Ausbildung school names Goethe B1 → Goethe, even if TELC “feels simpler”.
- It accepts “certified B1” with no brand → the next session you can actually prepare matters more.
- Healthcare / Pflege often want B2, whichever body.
Choosing TELC to “gain” a month, then finding the employer wants Goethe, means losing the session and the trip.
Marrakech: logistics change the picture
There is no Goethe-Institut in Marrakech. The Goethe exam = train or coach to Casablanca (closest) or Rabat, summons in hand. That is not a marking-scale issue: it is fatigue, a budget, a fixed date.
TELC is taken at a telc exam centre, not at Millennia. Millennia in Gueliz prepares Goethe and TELC (Goethe prep, TELC prep); it does not issue the certificate.
If your speaking is already solid and writing is weak, modular Goethe can be the most economical path after a fail. If you freeze in front of the examiner, TELC pair format may fit better — provided the Germany file accepts it.
What Millennia does — and does not
Millennia Centre de Formation prepares both formats in Gueliz (mocks, pair speaking, marked writing). It does not invent a pass rate, does not choose the employer’s requirement for you, and does not run the official session.

Common mistakes
- Taking TELC “because it is easier” without reading the offer.
- Comparing Goethe B2 with TELC B1 (not the same level).
- Booking Goethe in Casablanca without having seen a mock paper.
- Believing an internal Millennia certificate replaces Goethe or TELC.
In short
Easier = often TELC orally, Goethe to resit a module. More useful = the one named on the contract, on a date you can keep from Marrakech.
