At a glance
In Marrakech, “community manager” means: run Instagram (and often TikTok), reply, and push toward WhatsApp or a booking — for a riad, hotel, restaurant or Gueliz shop. Job ads ask for Canva, several languages, sometimes two years’ experience. Training teaches the craft; it does not buy the job. Millennia Centre de Formation trains in person in Gueliz; it is not a placement agency.
What the job is here (not in Paris)
Local job posts (hospitality, real estate, restaurants) repeat the same blocks: editorial calendar, stories and reels, moderation, reputation, a bit of reporting. The Marrakech detail is rarely written:
- Languages. French + English for luxury and tourism; Arabic / darija for locals. A 100% French account misses part of demand — see Instagram and TikTok for a Marrakech business.
- WhatsApp. This is not “animating a global community”. It is often the till. A CM who never hands off to a number that answers does not convert.
- Season. High season: pace. November: the account must not die. Posting three times a day in April then vanishing is a firing offence, not a strategy.
- Real place. Photos of the riad or the dining room, not a Dubai feed. Guests arrive and compare.
The digital marketing context in Marrakech (Google Business, season, languages) is the frame; the CM is the person who executes it every day.
CM, ads manager, intern: three jobs
| Role | What you buy | Trap |
|---|---|---|
| Community manager | Content + replies + calendar | Confused with “posting memes” |
| Ads (Meta / Google) | Budget, targeting, result | Given to an intern with no Ads Manager |
| Intern / all-rounder | A bit of both, badly | Ads that say “film, edit, ads, support” for one salary |
Many Marrakech ads mix the three. A candidate who wants the CM title must know how to refuse “and you also run 10,000 MAD of ads” without ads training — or train for both. Meta Ads is another job: Meta Ads in Morocco.
What employers look at (no magic degree)
No hiring statistic here. What shows up in public ads is:
- A portfolio: accounts, screenshots, sample copy in FR/EN.
- Canva (sometimes Photoshop).
- Availability (weekends, evenings in high season).
- “Confirmed” experience — often 1–2 years, especially hotels.
A Millennia certificate says you completed a programme and a project. It does not say Meta certified you, or that a five-star will take you without English.
Training: useful for what
The Gueliz digital marketing path (about 40 hours, weekends) covers social, content, Canva, then ads and a project. That is the right tool if you have never held a calendar or Ads Manager. It is not a three-year communications degree.
Without a project (riad or shop persona, 15 days of content, a campaign draft), the CV stays a list of tools. Programme detail: digital marketing training.
Common mistakes
- Buying followers to “prove” a personal account.
- Applying to a five-star with only darija content, or the reverse.
- Confusing CM and influencer.
- Promising ads results without ever launching a campaign.
- Treating a course as a job contract.
In short
The job in Marrakech is local, bilingual (often trilingual), tied to WhatsApp and the season. You enter with proof, not a slogan.
