At a glance
Meta Ads (Facebook and Instagram) work in Morocco. What breaks US tutorials is not the Ads Manager button: it is the dirham, WhatsApp, Marrakech season and the fact that a booking is not a Shopify cart. Launching a campaign with no clear offer and no human reply burns the budget. Millennia teaches campaign structure in person in Gueliz; it is not an agency that spends for you.
What Meta Ads does — and does not
Meta sells attention on Instagram and Facebook. You choose an objective (traffic, messages, calls, catalogue sales, etc.), an audience, a budget, creatives. Official docs change; the principle stays: pay to show an offer to people, then measure an event you defined.
In Morocco the useful event is often:
- a message (Instagram / WhatsApp)
- a call
- a visit to a listing or directions
Not “views” on a boosted Reel with no question asked.
WhatsApp Business has its official tools. You still need a displayed number and a person who answers. Otherwise the ad sends traffic into a void.
What US tutorials do not have
| US tutorial | Morocco / Marrakech reality |
|---|---|
| USD checkout | MAD, sometimes cash on delivery, often no site |
| E-commerce pixel first | Conversation first, pixel later if you have a site |
| Broad “cold” audience | Language (FR / AR / EN) and geo (city, radius, tourists) |
| DNVB brand calendar | High season vs trough, Ramadan, local events |
| Long landing page | Profile + WhatsApp, or a simple page |
A dirham test budget on your offer (menu, room, Gueliz practice) teaches more than a YouTube course shot on a sneaker brand.
Retargeting only makes sense if an audience already exists (page engagement, visits, a list). Without that, you are still paying for discovery.
Order before you open Ads Manager
- Offer in one sentence + an honest photo of the place.
- Professional account; pixel only if you have a page to measure.
- Aligned objective (messages, not “awareness” by default).
- Someone answers the same day.
- Read the result (cost per message, not CPM in isolation).
Organic groundwork before ads: Instagram and TikTok for a Marrakech business. Broader frame: digital marketing in Marrakech.
Google Ads Search (intent “riad medina”) is another channel, taught in the same programme. Do not mix the two reports.
Training vs agency
The agency executes. Training teaches you to launch and read, or to check an agency invoice. Millennia Centre de Formation: Meta Ads in the weekend path (~40 h), a project, an internal certificate — not Meta Blueprint (Skillshop / Blueprint are taken with Meta).
If you will never touch Ads Manager, pay an agency. If you want it in-house, train in Gueliz. Frame comparison: where to train.
Common mistakes
- Boosting a post instead of structuring a campaign (objective, audience, creative).
- Targeting “all of Morocco” for a Gueliz restaurant.
- Creatives in French only while guests book in English.
- No WhatsApp follow-up after the click.
- Confusing a centre certificate with Meta certification.
In short
Meta Ads in Morocco are judged in messages and visits, in MAD, on a local offer. US tutorials help you click; they do not set your Marrakech persona.
